I'm a journeyman developer and coach, currently with ThoughtWorks in the UK. I care about good software design.
This was brought home to me when I attended QCon London 2008. I printed the schedule for the day and highlighted the sessions that I would like to go to. I marked two or three from each slot, and when I had gone through the whole day, I tried to decide which ones I would attend.
To my surprise, I found an entire column of highlighting, the 'Effective Design' track. That made my decision for me, and made me aware of something important to me, that had previously only been subconscious
